I haven’t used twitter for quite a number of years so although I may have experience, I feel like a new user. It seems like a very efficient means of communication for groups of people to discuss topics or promote business. It can be used as a tool if used correctly, which I have been learning lately. I think regardless of the path of my career, twitter can and will be used as a tool to reach out and connect with likeminded individuals to build my personal learning network. People are the greatest resource to anybody.

The digital divide explains the difference in resource availability among students in the school system. I student who comes from a wealthier home is likely to have access to more and newer technology. This creates a learning curve for students who are exposed to more technologies. As a classroom teacher I will have a diverse group of students and who may experience some level of a digital divide. This may have an effect of the teaching strategies used, for example assignments would be limited to technologies available to everyone, otherwise technologies would need to be provided for a level playing field in the classroom.

When I am a teacher, I would make great use of academic software. This kills two birds with one stone because students are learning the material in the curriculum as well as gaining computer literacy. I would like to use google earth in my future classroom because it offers an excellent way of understanding geography as well as being able to put the students right into these locations virtually which they might otherwise not get to visit. I would also use Google Classroom because this is a software I used in my later years in elementary school, it is an excellent software for assigning and submitting tasks online. Students will be required to navigate through technology to learn the curriculum so they will be building two skills simultaneously.

  1. Hey Judah, I love your interpretation of how using academic software in the classroom is comparable to killing two birds with one stone. Today, and definitely in the future, technology plays a large role in our everyday lives so it's important for students to use it and become more comfortable with it. In high school I was required to use google classroom, and I am able to see the impact my experience with the platform has on how I navigate technology today!
