The ELA standards for 1st Grade are to be able to navigate texts by using elements such as glossaries, table of contents, etc. It is also a requirement that students use various technologies in the classroom and that the students are able to present orally on their readings. I think in my current position of understanding that I am not equipped to be able to implement these standards. Although they are seemingly not that difficult, I fell there is a lot more to know as a teacher than the information itself.

I navigated my way to first grade math and found a lesson plan that is an interactive tutorial for students to understand the use of change in a dollar. It is a very slow-paced video with lots of description. I would use this lesson plan to teach my students how to use change in different fashions in order to make up one-dollar value. I think it would be more interactive if the students had different allotments of change in front of them at their desks with which they can use to count up to a dollar.

Being a proficient internet searcher is a huge time saver. It is important for teachers to handle the tool which is the internet as efficiently as possible in order to maximize time spent on building lesson plans or interacting with students. Moving forward with this new knowledge of navigating the web I feel more empowered to be proficient in my online searches. I have heard of most of these tools before, however I cannot say I have used one that was not mentioned in the course material.
