I visited Killearn Elementary School’s website and took a look at some teacher’s pages. It seems the teachers all have a link on their page that says “Meet Your Teacher” which provides a personalized introduction for the teacher. This is about the full extent of what is available to the public. The teachers’ pages also include a PowerPoint presentation that further introduces the teacher, presumably this is used for the teacher on their first day of class to introduce themselves to their students.
In order to advance myself in the professional world I believe it is best to utilize technology to one’s advantage. Maintaining an up-to-date LinkedIn and building a personal career webpage I could use as a decorated virtual resume. These kinds of tools let you put yourself out there hopefully to expose you to opportunities that would not otherwise be presented. The future of this world is technological which is why we see industry career holders often look to move the business world as virtual as possible.
I did not enjoy working with the wiki on PB Works at all. I consider myself to be with the school of thought that the webpage was remarkably outdated. Although simple enough to use after ample instruction, the interface options were limited, making it difficult to edit anything on the wiki aside from words. From what I gathered, this essentially works as a Google Drive Document that is shared publicly though a URL, except Google allows two or more users to edit the same page synchronously. If I was required to maintain a wiki for my K12 classroom I would use it as a online reading scavenger hunt where the students can use the wiki to navigate topics.
Hi Judah! I like the point you made about using LinkedIn in your professional career, I hadn’t thought of using that website. I also liked your idea to use the wiki page as a scavenger hunt!
